Galvanized Systems

Galvanized hot-dipped zinc coating is the most popular and inexpensive method for protecting chain link fence systems. Preferred for decades to define property lines and protect property, galvanized chain link offers a versatile fencing solution that will provide years of maintenance-free protection. Galvanized steel chain link fence fabric is perfect for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and recreation applications.

The zinc may be applied before weaving into fabric (GBW) or after weaving into fabric (GAW).

Galvanized Before Weaving (GBW)

In this process, the wire is pre-galvanized before it is formed into a fabric. The weaving process creates an exposed cut end that will lack coating and be more apt to some minor rust in wet and severe weather conditions.

Galvanized After Weaving (GAW)

This process forms or weaves chain-link into a fabric first, and then soaks it in a large galvanized bath which adheres to the zinc coating. This ensures that all the wire is coated, even the cut ends created during the weaving process.

For commercial, industrial and institutional applications, aluminum coated steel chain link fence fabric is also available. Aluminized fabric is contained in various government specifications for use in prison, highways, dock, airport, housing, forestry, and military use. Aluminized steel chain link fence fabric is produced by cold-drawing good commercial grade steel rod into wire of the appropriate diameter. The steel rod from which the wire is drawn shall be produced by the open hearth, electric furnace or basic oxygen process. The coating is produced by passing the cleaned wire through a molten bath of aluminum metal.

Residential fabric uses larger mesh sizes and smaller gauges, and commercial/industrial uses smaller mesh sizes and larger gauge diameters. The smallest mesh sizes, from 1-1/4” to 3/8”, are called High Security or Mini-Mesh.

Master Halco Chain Link systems are backed up with a 12 year limited warranty. All Master Halco chain link fabric is manufactured to ASTM standards.

Privacy Systems

In order to add an element of privacy to a standard chain link fence, PVC slats can be used. These are available already within the chain link fabric (SlatMaster®) or as inserts (PDS® Fence Privacy Slats). PVC Slats create a 90% see through privacy where restricted visibility and cost competitive fencing is required.

SlatMaster® makes fence installation quick and easy due to the advantage of pre-woven slats already in place with the chain link fabric. SlatMaster® slats are resistant to severe weather conditions, salt water, and many other common environmental pollutants. Slats within galvanized chain link are available in 8 colors. SlatMaster® is also available with colored vinyl coated Spectra® or PermaFused®. SlatMaster® slats come with a 10-Year Limited warranty against fading, breakage and red rust under normal use.

PDS® fence product line offers a variety of Fence Privacy Slats (Inserts), which fit in different sizes of chain link fencing. We have fence slats that fit into the following diamond sizes: 1-3/4”, 2”, 2-1/4” and 3-1/2”x5”. PDS slats are available in various types and materials to fit the style and look you want. Slats are made of material specifically designed to impede the harmful effects of the sun and lengthen the life of the product.
