Humble Beginnings
Master Halco began in 1951 as Master Fence Fittings, operating out of a small garage on Garvey Avenue in El Monte, California. With just one press and a few hand benders, the foundation was laid for what would become a nationwide industry leader.
Expanding Our Capabilities
In 1958, according to former owner Donovan O'Donnell, "Master Fence Fittings was starting to receive many calls to handle pipe and tubing and now it was necessary to expand into this field." In August of '58 we started Master Pipe, Inc.
Chain Link Fabric Enters the Frame
In just 3 years, Master Pipe Inc. proved its success in fittings & pipe. It was now time to move into what Master Halco is widely known for today - manufacturing our own Chain Link Fabric. In 1961, we started Master Sales, Inc. to dive into the world of Chain Link Fabrication.
First Branch, Big Vision
In November 1964, the first sales branch of Master Fence Fittings was opened in Hayward, California. It began with a temporary office within an old, small, one-room construction shack. But that didn't stop us from growing! As time went on, we moved into larger and larger warehouses.
Strengthening Our Supply Chain
Olney, Illinois, became Master Fence Fittings’ sixth location and its second manufacturing facility. The company began to manufacture vinyl coated chain link fabric as a logical addition to the existing product line. The Olney branch celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2022!
Groundwork for Greatness
We acquired Halco Fence & Wire, bringing 12 service centers and a manufacturing plant specializing in galvanized (GAW) chain link fabric into the fold. This transformative acquisition expanded our national reach and set the stage for the unified Master Halco brand that would soon emerge.
A United Brand
A major milestone: the Master Halco name and original logo were officially introduced — uniting Master Fence Fittings and Halco Fence & Wire under one brand. It marked the beginning of a legacy that’s been trusted by fencing professionals for over four decades.
Crossing Borders
Master Halco expanded internationally with the acquisition of McLellan Fencing and the formation of Master-Halco Ltd. in Canada — bringing trusted products and personalized service to fencing professionals across the border.
The Logo You Know
A defining moment in our brand story — Master Halco introduced the logo that still represents us today. More than a new look, it marked our evolution into a modern, unified company ready to lead the industry into the 21st century and beyond.
Strengthening Canada
Master Halco expanded into Quebec with the acquisition of Clôtures Lasalle Ltée and Clôtures Bel-Air Ltée. These strategic additions strengthened our Canadian footprint — leveraging its fence contracting capabilities and expanding our presence in home center channels.
Two Leaders, One Strong Future
Master Halco acquired Jamieson Fence Supply, bringing together two industry leaders with deep roots and strong reputations. This powerful combination strengthened our nationwide reach and laid the groundwork for long-term growth and continued success for both our company and our contractor partners.
Expanding Our Western Roots
We acquired US Vinyl Fence and Forest Product Sales in Salt Lake City, Utah — welcoming new talent, deepening our supply capabilities, and establishing a new home for our SLC branch.
Strengthening Our Decking Footprint
With the acquisition of The Deck Superstore in Commerce City, Colorado, we broadened our reach and expertise in the decking category — solidifying our presence in the heart of the Rockies.
A Logo That Reflects Our Growth
We introduced a new logo descriptor — Fence & Deck Supply — to reflect the company we’ve grown to become: a trusted one-stop resource for fencing, decking, railing, and outdoor living products.
